Testing and Tutoring

Learning Resource Center

The Learning Resource Center, located on the ground floor of the Reinsch library building, provides tutoring assistance in mathematics, writing, and study skills for a broad range of courses. Faculty may request a representative from the LRC - often a peer tutor - to speak to their classes and inform students of LRC services.

Testing in the LRC

By appointment only, the LRC can arrange for DSS testing accommodations, make-up exams, Challenge exams, CLEPs, and MATs. Students who need testing accommodations must have a DSS letter and make the arrangements themselves, in consultation with the instructor. General make-up testing (exams missed due to illness or other emergencies) is available on a space-available basis by appointment only. Faculty should send testing materials and the test request form (PDF) to the LRC.

Testing Accommodations (DSS)

Students with documented disabilities who require testing accommodations such as extended time or a distraction-free environment may arrange for testing through the Learning Resource Center. All testing arrangements are by appointment only. Students should schedule appointments at least two (2) business days in advance by calling the LRC at (703) 284-1538. Students with special testing requirements such as computer access, the use of a test reader or scribe, etc. should schedule exams as far in advance as possible. A current copy of the Faculty Contact Sheet, which students can obtain from the Office of Disability Support Services (DSS), must be on file in the LRC before any disability accommodations are provided.

Make-Up Tests

General make-up testing (exams missed due to illness or other emergencies) is available on a space-available basis by appointment only. Students should schedule appointments at least two (2) business days in advance by calling the LRC at (703) 284-1538. Space is limited, so appointments are on a first-come, first-served basis. The LRC does not administer final exams or comprehensive exams other than to students who require accommodations due to disabilities.
