DC Area Libraries and Research Facilities

Marymount's prime location in the Washington area provides access to a variety of resources that enhance a student's educational experience, including several libraries and research facilities:

  • Washington Research Library Consortium (WRLC): Marymount belongs to WRLC, the Washington area's consortium of university libraries which also includes American University, The Catholic University of America, Gallaudet University, George Mason University, George Washington University, Georgetown University, Howard University, and the University of the District of Columbia. The shared resources of these institutions are easily available to all Marymount students.
  • Library of Congress: Conceived as "the research arm of Congress", the LOC is the world's largest library, and is open to the general public. The Jefferson Room is also one of the nation's most spectacular public spaces; an inspiring place to study.
  • Folger Shakespeare Library: The premier research institution in Shakespeare and Renaissance studies is located in Washington D.C.
  • The National Gallery of Art Library is "a major national art research center." Its primary mission is to serve Gallery staff and research fellows, but it is also open to "visiting scholars, and serious adult researchers" by appointment only.
  • More coming!
